The Disaster Communications Service prides itself in its ongoing training efforts. Below you will find the equipment that we deem essential to have and maintain in your Light Duty Go Bag.
 
Your Light Duty Go Bag will be your most used bag of equipment and supplies.  You should keep this kit simple and have only what you would use for up to a 72-hour period.  The list below is what we recommend.  Only add what you deem as essential for you to operate.  During light activations, there will be food and if extended, lodging.  NOTE: This will fit into one medium sized carry bag.

UNIFORM ESSENTIALS:

DCS Identification Card with a carry holder or clip.
2 - Undershirts
2 - DCS Class C Uniform Shirt aka the ID Shirt
1 - Pair of BDU Uniform Pants, Green in color ONLY
2 - Pairs of socks
2 - Pairs of Underwear
1 - DCS Jacket
1 - Pair of Shoe Laces

PERSONAL SUPPLIES:

Kleenex Tissue
Small First Aid Kit (Band-Aids, Motrin, Imodium, Tylenol, Benadryl, Insect Repellent, Earplugs, Sunscreen, Chap stick, Dramamine, small scissors, etc.)
Small Towel
Small Umbrella
Space Blanket
Toiletries (tooth brush, toothpaste, razors, etc.)
Waterproof Matches or butane lighter
Moist Towelettes*

OPERATING SUPPLIES:

2-4 Cylume 12-hr Light Sticks (Green or Blue)
Assorted Batteries
Clipboard (DCS Net Preamble and Check In Sheet, EOC Message Forms, .....Activity Log, Frequency List, etc.)
Flashlight (Mini or 4-cell Maglight or Streamlight)
Garbage Bags
Parachute Cord (2x50 Feet)*
Pens, Pencils, Markers, Note Pad, Small Calculator, Miniature Office Set
Pocket Knife
Repeater Directory (Local and National)
Safety Goggles
Small AM/FM Radio*
Small Binoculars*
Small Camera
Thomas Guide or AAA Area Maps and Compass or GPS
Work Gloves
Strobe Marker*

EQUIPMENT:

12V Gel Cell w/connection to HT*
1-Roll, Black Electrical Tape
Antenna w/ Magnetic Mount
HT Radio, Speaker Mic, DC Power Plug, Battery Pack, Earphone
Power Cord (9-foot, 110VAC)*
Power Strip
Spare HT Battery, Charger

** Don’t Overdue this Category. You should be able to carry all of this with ease.

SNACKS:

6 Powerbars or other basic high protein snack food
3 Bottles of Water
